Now, after having travelled for six months and 1 week through south east Asia, I have to go home. Although somewhere in my mind I wish I could extend it for the same period of time, I must admit my body is tired and my enthusiasm to find things out is almost gone: It seems that it is really time to go home.

But coming home isn’t the same to me anymore. Home is everywhere if you see and appreciate the smallest things around you. Wherever I have been there were friends to meet and families to join. When it ended in one place the (unknown) future would bring me new things to see, appreciate, learn and love immediately as if it was already waiting there for me.

'Same same but different' an often used sentence here in southeast Asia and I agree. During my travel I saw a lot of different ways of living in and looking at the world. From outside it all looked different but while coming closer to the people or there life I saw much more similarities in opinions on what’s happening in the world, in feelings and not to forget in the sense of humour. Once a man said to me: we are different cause You are from milk and I am from chocolate, but from the inside we are the same: Our blood has the same colour.

I will miss the open souls of the Asian people, their hospitality and their patience;
the Gecko and his little brother the Tjik Tjak, who have been my travel mates from a distance: if not my roommate, they accompanied me at least once a day at another place; the delicious food which made me pregnant and not to forget: Yom.

I want to thank the people who shared their (way of ) life with me for a short or longer period.
Especially:
KEOLAR and his friends (monks) at Wat Si Saket temple in Vientiane, (Laos)
SHADI (Iran) for the happy hours together in Laos :)
RUDI (Germany) and YING for the nice school time together at the massage school (Bangkok, Thailand)
DIDI, my personal beauty care specialist (Bangkok, Thailand)
PAT for a wonderful time together with Yom (Lamphan, Thailand)
GRAI and his colleagues for a funny time and songkran (Chiangmai, Thailand)
JIMMY without whom I would not have had my birthday (Jogyakarta, Indonesia)
JAN for learning me playing poi (Lombok, Indonesia)
KAMAL (Egypt) for a swinging fullmoon party (Koh Pagnan, Thailand)
FAMILY NGUYGEN for a family stay in HCMC (Vietnam)
KEOLAR again and his family who offered me a unforgettable stay at the countryside of Laos.
MY ROOMMATES in Beijing (China)
WASI and SUMMER for a relaxed stay in Hong Kong

FLEUR, It was nice to start all this with you (and Sarah), I still remember your arrival in Bangkok :)
THOMAS: my travel mate during a part of my trip: I wont forget your always surprising answers and the time I spent with your family in Bangkok.
I will miss the pregnancy-breath-exercises I needed to survive your sense of humour!

FAMILY & FRIENDS who took the time to share their thoughts with me on the site.

and MY MOTHER for solving all administrative shit which goes on, even if you are not at home!

Now it is time to fly home again, 12 hours, although with this backpack trip the world became of a smaller size to me.

    HCMC TV:

    Hi Stepanie,

Thank you for your greetings and I wish you always be healthy and happy.

We send you a sincerely appology for not sending you the file/CD/DVD sooner as we said .

As you have seen, we have to make the film around Vietnam so it takes quite time. But we make sure to you that we would send you the film sooner than Christmas eve, surely next month when we come back the headquarter.

Once again, sorry for this inconvenience and hope to see you again whenever you turn back to Vietnam.

    Your faithfully,
    Nolanguyen
    Vietnam.
